Some children pick a favourite jumper and wear it until it falls apart. Knit them this one and you will know exactly which jumper that is going to be. Monstrous is a kids monster jumper knitting pattern for ages 2 to 11 years, worked in bright blue and white stripes with a cinnamon monster mouth, knitted 3D eyes with stuffed pupils, and six knitted teeth sewn on to finish. The kind of jumper that gets worn to school, to parties, to the supermarket, and everywhere a small person decides monsters are appropriate.
The best part is that there is no intarsia at all. The jumper body is worked in stocking stitch with blue and white stripe sleeves, and all the monster details, the eyes, the pupils, and the teeth, are knitted separately and sewn on at the end. The mouth is formed by a section of reverse stocking stitch that rolls naturally to create the lip. It looks far more impressive than it actually is to make, which is exactly how it should be.
