There is something about a child in a jumper covered in lorries that makes everyone stop and look. The Baby Lorry Intarsia Sweater is a colourwork knit packed with little truck motifs, finished with matching buttons, and made to be worn to absolute destruction.
The lorry motifs can be worked intarsia-style as you knit, or added afterwards using duplicate stitch if you'd rather get the knitting done first. Either way, the result is the same: a very pleased small person and a very satisfying make.
The pattern is written clearly for a confident beginner, with a straightforward bottom-up seamed construction and minimal shaping. It knits up quickly in DK yarn, and those buttons make it every bit as lovely to give as it is to knit.
