No child has ever walked past one of these without stopping to look. The spider has hairy legs, googly eyes, and is in the process of climbing out of the pocket.

There are more reasons to knit than there have been in months, and the Incy Wincy Spider Cardigan is exactly the right thing to cast on while all of that happens. A top-down seamless Halloween cardigan for ages 1 to 11, knitted in one piece from the neck down with no seaming, no intarsia, and a spider sewn on after finishing rather than knitted in.
The pattern is written to be easy to follow from the very first row. Because the cardigan is worked top-down in one piece, you can try it on as you go and there is nothing to sew up at the end. When you cast off the last stitch, you are done. It works up quickly in DK weight yarn and is well within reach for a confident beginner.
