Flopsy, Baby Bunny Rattle Knitting Pattern PDF

A knitted baby rattle pattern that is as satisfying to make as it is to give. Meet Flopsy, a sweet striped bunny rattle worked in DK yarn on double-pointed needles, with floppy ears and a gentle crinkle that babies find utterly irresistible.

This is a great project for using up leftover DK yarn. Any machine-washable cotton DK will work beautifully, not just the King Cole Bamboo Cotton specified in the pattern. The only rule is washability, because babies are sticky and the rattle will need to survive it.

The crinkle in the ears comes from a folded sweet wrapper. A Roses chocolate wrapper is the traditional choice, and a perfectly good excuse to open a tin. If you prefer something purpose-made, crinkle paper designed for toy making is available and works just as well.

If you have never knitted in the round on double-pointed needles before, this is a lovely first project to try. The tension is forgiving and the construction is straightforward.

Finished measurement: 16cm / 6.25 in tall.

What you will need: 2.75mm double-pointed needles, safety toy stuffing, a small rattle or bell, a sweet wrapper or crinkle paper, a darning needle.
